#21 Carbon Google

“The Carbon Mission is a open project dedicated towards carbon reduction by providing support to anyone using our online multimedia resouces.”

Came across this interesting but odd site. There’s hardly any information on it except they offer a greener option for online searching called “Carbon Google.” The tool allows a user to perform searches on a mainly black screen. The black screen takes less energy than a white screen and therefore reduces energy, therefore reducing carbon impacts.

If this is true this idea can be a great message using the light & dark turning the tables on the traditional good vs. evil because in this case, the white can be considered evil and the dark is good. This tool could be a great addition to sustainable business focused websites. It’s a small change that doesn’t require behavioral changes but makes an impact and may make a person think about energy usage. Interesting.
